This is a 22 mother of one child from the Sedona area who came to visit me at my Scottsdale area medical office. She had gained approximately 80 pounds during her pregnancy, and as a result, she had significant stretching and drooping of her breasts and abdomen. She was unhappy with the appearance of her body, and wanted to look like she did before her pregnancy. Because this patient wanted to have an increase in the size of her breasts, as well as an improvement in the shape, and a reduction in the size of her areolas, I recommended that she have a breast augmentation in addition to a breast lift (mastopexy). This would improve her breast shape and size, as well as smooth out some of her stretch marks. Regarding her abdomen, she had looseness of the abdominal wall (ab muscles and connective tissue) from her pregnancy, as well as drooping and stretch marks of the skin. I recommended an abdominoplasty (tummy-tuck) with tightening of the internal abdominal wall and tailoring of the stretched out skin. I performed a breast augmentation with placement of the implants under the muscle. The implants were 275cc Mentor smooth round, moderate profile saline implants. I then tailored the breast skin over the implants to provide the most natural and "perky" appearance possible. I also reduced the size of the areolas to a more proportionate diameter. Once the breast surgery was completed, I performed a tummy-tuck procedure with tightening of the abdominal muscles (internal corset), and reshaping of her bellybutton. I then removed all of her excess skin, eliminating many of her stretchmarks. The postoperative photos demonstrate her appearance at 6 weeks after surgery. It is important to notice the dramatic improvement in her waistline and the flatness of her stomach.
