Corrective Surgery

Corrective plastic surgery covers a huge range of procedures to correct defects from trauma, congenital issues, or cancer (among other causes). As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I have had the opportunity to treat hundreds of these problems on the head and face, body, and extremities. With every "reconstructive" surgery, I always incorporate "cosmetic" techniques to obtain the best possible result for my Phoenix plastic surgery patients.

Revision of Scars

The most common request for corrective plastic surgery I receive at the Scottsdale Center for Plastic Surgery regards the revision of scars. Usually these scars are the result of a prior accident or surgery. Although it is impossible (with current technology) to make scars "disappear", the appearance of scars can usually be improved and camouflaged with proper plastic surgery techniques. There are many non-surgical interventions that I recommend to improve the appearance of scars, such as scar-massage, silicone sheeting, and avoidance of sun/UV exposure. If a scar is still not ideal in appearance one year after the time of the initial injury, I can often make an improvement with surgery.

Removal of Moles & Other Skin Lesions

Removal of moles and other skin lesions are another frequent reason for consultation with a plastic surgeon. Many people feel more comfortable having these skin problems removed by someone with experience in cosmetic surgery. Understanding how to properly design the removal of a skin lesion can usually make the difference between a small, hidden scar and a wide, unattractive scar.
